Hi.
Welcome to my book blog, The Read, which, I can tell tell you, I was honestly shocked didn't already exist. This is a book blog where, after I read a book, I'll read it for you.
What makes me qualified? I'm probably not. But I am in love with words, with reading, and have been ever since I can remember. I've read a great many books, and even taught a few, but my "To Read" list on Goodreads keeps growing much faster than my "Read" list. But this is the nature of a great love: it grows deeper and stronger with every encounter. All you want is more.
In this blog, I will criticize and comment on the books I've finished reading and listening to. I will tell the truth--every good read is true--and besides, what have I got to lose? I hope you, Readers, can appreciate the ways I see the world and the way I view reading about it. I invite you to agree with me. I invite you to disagree with me. I invite you to enjoy The Read.
I am working on several personal reading projects, namely attempting to diversify the authors I read. I, like many I'm sure, find myself reading books by dead white men, and alive white men, which I have loved and respect greatly. But there are so many other voices out there, and I'm not reading many of them. While they're unavoidable, I need to diversify my "Read" list.
So... I am trying to read the voices of more women and more people of color, because everyone's voice matters.
I am trying to read more women, especially more funny women. As an improviser and "funny woman" myself, I feel like we need to stick together.
I am trying to read more about feminism.
I am trying to read more non-fiction.
I am trying to read more children's and young adult books.
I am trying to read more.
